A Iconic Piece from Hedi Slimane’s Celine Debut
Nacho: Today, I have a very special jacket from the Spring/Summer 2019 collection from Celine by Hedi Slimane. This was his first collection for the brand following his era at Saint Laurent, and he decided to create what I consider to be one of the coolest jackets he has ever made. It features a striking black and white dual-tone pattern.
Nacho: This isn't the first time he has used this type of pattern—I have a Saint Laurent jacket that also features a dual-tone design—but I have to say, this Celine piece absolutely nails it. It is full of character, with wide shoulder pads, a wide belt, and beautiful silver Celine zippers.
Fit and Styling Impressions
Nacho: This jacket is a size 54. While I couldn't find it in a 52, which would likely be my ideal size, the 54 works well because of its unique silhouette. It is super cropped yet has an oversized fit, which makes it feel quite special. It feels like a glove when worn.
Nacho: As a rather short jacket, it pairs perfectly with high-waisted jeans or skinny jeans. I am currently wearing it with a Celine belt, a chain I picked up on Amazon, and a slogan t-shirt. It feels very light and is easy to wear, making it perfect for the spring and summer seasons for which the collection was intended.
Nacho: When closed, there is still a lot of room to play with the fit. While I am not a big fan of tucking the belt, it does highlight just how tight and cropped the jacket is. Personally, my favorite way to wear it is open. I love that the arm length is actually quite long, even though the body is so cropped—which is a nice variation from what we are usually used to from Hedi. It makes it perfect for my body type, which is a shorter torso with longer arms.
